Public Health is not a department or building; it is a concept, vision, and goal. It is healthy people in healthy communities. Achieving public health is not a job to be done alone. 

This website describes the efforts that have been undertaken by the Hartford Health Department, along with health care and community organizations, as well as many citizens, to work towards improving public health in Hartford. It describes new information that is available on the health of Hartford’s residents. In July 2003, the Hartford Health Department merged with the Department of Human Services to form the Department of Health and Human Services. This website illustrates how the Department of Health and Human Services continue to work with city hospitals and organizations to realize the vision of "Healthy People in a Healthy Hartford".
